An underwater town in Laconia

One submerged prehistoric settlement has been located at the southern end of Laconia, near Neapolis, excavated this summer by archaeologists, revealing large buildings, among them the “Megaron”, the office and residence of the ruler. The building length is 35 meters, the dimensions and the layout of which refer to the corresponding structures of the early Bronze Age period in which can be meet on other settlements that have been found on land. As it is evident, therefore, the finding is excellent — although, as indicated by the scientists, the precise characterization of the Megaron type will be determined by further research.
