Thucydides articulates the causes of the Peloponnesian War and points out the reasons of Sparta’s military action against Athens as an eventuality of Sparta’s grand strategy. The article will focus on the decision-making of Sparta and will seek to answer the question: what was the theory that propelled Sparta into war.
